Welcome to the cognitive neuroscience lab of Dr. Paul E. Dux, PhD, in the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland. Despite the immense processing power of the human brain it is severely capacity limited: Humans can barely attend to more than one stimulus at a time and have extreme difficulty undertaking multiple tasks concurrently. To overcome these limitations the human attentional system prioritises salient stimuli/tasks that are to undergo extended processing and discards (or delays the processing of) stimuli/tasks that are less relevant for behaviour after only limited analysis. The Queensland Attention and Control Lab is broadly interested in understanding the cognitive and neural mechanisms that give rise to these human processing limitations. If you interested in working in the lab as a research assistant, honours student, PhD student or postdoctoral fellow. Please contact Dr. Dux by email: paul.e.dux(at)gmail.com Lab Nov 2009 |
